DEVIN KEMP, SOPRANO

Soprano Devin Kemp has been praised for her rich full tone, poise and grace onstage, and soaring high notes. Ms. Kemp received her Bachelor of Music degree from Millikin University, followed by a Master of Music degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (both in Vocal Performance). Ms. Kemp has performed in a variety of venues both nationally and internationally. Her vocal abilities extend beyond opera, having done crossover work in art song, musical theatre, and oratorio repertoire. Her most recent engagements have been performing on a concert series in her hometown with her local orchestra. She sang selections by Puccini from his opera La Boheme. She also performed the roles of Pallade and Famigliari Prima with the Berlin Opera Academy. Followed by the role of Mrs. Anderssen in The Hoogland Center for the Arts production of A Little Night Music as well as appearing as a guest artist in First Presbyterian Church's Lenten Concert Series. Ms. Kemp made her debut with UNL Opera in the role of The Mother in their outreach production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. She would continue to appear as Donna Elvira in their production of Don Giovanni as well as Antonia in Les Contes d'Hoffman. As an Apprentice Artist for the 2017 Miami Summer Music Festival, Ms. Kemp performed under the direction of David Toulson (Washington National Opera) and was conducted by Brad Moore (Houston Grand Opera) covering the role of Sister Rose (Dead Man Walking). She has collaborated with numerous directors, coaches, and conductors hailing from some of the country’s most prestigious opera houses, such as Washington National Opera, Houston Grand Opera, The Metropolitan Opera, and Opera Theatre St Louis. Her most recent roles include Pallade and Famigliari Prima (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Mrs. Anderssen (A Little Night Music), Antonia (Les Contes d'Hoffman), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), The Mother (Amahl and the Night Visitors), Yum-Yum (The Mikado), and Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus). Ms. Kemp currently resides in Berlin, Germany.
